The Week in Review
When I can, I'm going to try to start sharing some articles, blog posts, restaurants, etc. related to food at the end of the week. I tried this before in my "Seeing Stars," but in the last year, I've expanded my food interests into more than just recipes. I'd like to share some of that here along with amazing foodie blog posts I've come across during the week. (And maybe someday I can come up with some snazzy art to go along with it, but today I'm suffering from bronchitis and can't be bothered.) :-)
- Marion Nestle, a professor at NYU, writes a blog called Food Politics. She comments on, well, the politics of food. I'm slowly learning about the laws surrounding our food, and was glad to see her take on the fact that the USDA is going to be taking on school meal standards. An interesting read if you follow the school food debate. (I hate that the USDA still thinks that flavored milk is okay for kids!)
- Kathy from Panini Happy is celebrating her blog's third anniversary with a giveaway. (Please don't enter this as I'd like to win.) ;-) She is also creating a sandwich guide to go on Foodspotting and is requesting our help to spot the best sandwiches around the country. Go over and tell her where to find the best sandwiches where you live to help make this a great guide!
- In my "I'm totally making this" category, I ran across two posts that I hope to recreate in my kitchen soon:
--Patent and the Pantry's Beef Bulgogi: Don't know what bulgogi is? No worries...I didn't know either! Apparently it's a type of Korean-style beef wrapped in lettuce. I'm a sucker for lettuce wraps, and this one looks delicious and easy to boot!
--Fake Food Free's Buffalo Turkey Sandwiches with Celery Yogurt Spread: I love buffalo chicken, but I don't eat it often because I'm picky about bones in my meat, so wings are out. This seems like a healthier, and frankly more appetizing, alternative to wings and blue cheese or ranch!

That buffalo turkey sandwich looks amazing.
Bulgogi, and Korean food in general, is fantastic. Let me know how it turns out!
Honored to make the list!
Have you read her book, Food Politics? A must read if you haven't, but it takes a while to get through. It taught me about all the false info I spent 7 yrs studying. :) Frustrating, but informative and motivating!
Lori, I haven't read it...thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, neither Centre nor the public library have it. :-( The public library has her _What to Eat_, though, so I may stop by and pick that up until I can track down the other one!
