The Week in Review
It's finally Friday! This has been a long week for the whole family. We were lucky enough to go to California last weekend for my brother's wedding, but it was a fly-by trip, and since my daughter started kindergarten this week, we've been playing catch-up since we got home. I have, however, had some time to glance through the blogosphere. I don't know what it is about this week, but I've really been drawn to salads. So without further ado, here are the salads (and one dessert, of course) that caught my eye!
- I've just discovered Anissa's blog and love it! She's a leading expert on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and I'm so glad I stumbled across her easy-to-read blog. She shared a couple of recipes for fattush, one of my favorite Lebanese salads. I've never made it before, but I think I will soon!
- We get a lot of kale through our CSA, and although I love it, the rest of my family is middling on it. I'm constantly looking for new recipes to use, and I thought that Life's Ambrosia's Kale and Potato Salad might be worth attempting. Next time we get kale, I'm trying this...even if I'm the only one eating it! :-)
- The last salad that had my mouth watering this week is The Other Side of Fifty's Panettone Panzanella with Bacon and Brussels Sprouts. The post is actually from a couple of years ago, but I've been scouring the web for fall recipes in hopes that this hot weather will break eventually! This looks like a great salad for Thanksgiving dinner.
- I've been dying to bake all summer, but with the temperatures soaring into the 90s (and into the 100s with the heat index), I'm loathe to turn the oven on. We've gotten down to the 80s this week, and so I think I may just try to do a little baking this weekend. Lori at Recipe Girl posted a delicious-looking recipe for Blackberry Jam Shortbread Bars that I think I might try. It looks like it makes a lot, but they're freezer friendly!

We eat a lot of salads too. Anything much heavier sounds like too much this time of the year. I'm off to check out your favorites. Have a great weekend.

I was on a salad kick in the beginning of the summer, but have fallen off the wagon as of late. This week in review reminded me that I need to get back on it! Love that panettone panzanella salad idea!
